What is the PE and Sport Premium?
The PE and Sport Premium is a government initiative designed to help primary schools improve the quality of physical education (PE), physical activity and sport provision. The funding is allocated directly to schools and must be used to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport offered to pupils.
The aim of the funding is to ensure that all children:

Develop a love of physical activity and sport.

Understand the importance of leading a healthy, active lifestyle.

Have opportunities to take part in a wide range of sporting experiences both in and beyond the school day.

Are supported to achieve their personal best in physical education.
Schools have flexibility in how they use this funding, but it should be used to:

Develop staff skills and confidence in teaching PE.

Broaden the sporting opportunities and experiences available to pupils.

Encourage active play and participation at break and lunchtime.

Engage pupils in competitive sport and activities.
Each year, schools are required to publish details of how they spend their PE and Sport Premium funding and the impact it has on pupils’ PE, physical activity and sport participation.
